Childabuse is one of the most serious crimes and something we should take more care of. This group wants to raise the Awareness for this urgent topic. I live in Austria and I'm really shocked every day when i switch on the news/read the newspaper and everyday the number of victims is growing. I wrote a short article about the current situation and i hope this will ring a bell to some of you.


Child Abuse Situation in Austria

3 Priests of the Catholic Church in Austria had to be removed from the institution. Two got "fired" and the other one could withstand the public pressure. Every day new shocking details are shown in the media.
The Catholic Church is trying to give us the feeling that they are doing all they can do but they will not look for other victims, due to lack of staff. They will wait until other victims contact them.
One of the involved priests has already abused pupils in a boarding school and the only measure taken was to move him to another abbey where he continued to have contact with children and young adults.

The number of victims is growing day by day and it seems that this is just the top of the iceberg. Some experts are talking about some sort of a methodical issue in the recruitment process of priests. Psychologists found out that the church is very attractive for people with weak personalities and problems in real life which they can “solve” later when they have a position that represents power to other people like a religious authority.

The best-known boys’ choir in Austria, the Wiener Sängerknaben, is also in the media. Two boys declared they were abused and now the whole country is expecting new shocking news.
These crimes have been concealed for centuries but now more and more victims appear telling their stories.
